Fishing in the Queen Charlotte on a stunning winter’s day can be one of the best ways to experience fishing in the Marlborough Sounds. While you may still need your jacket on, with Marlborough’s high sunshine hours, clear blue skies and calm waters you’re in for a treat. And with hardly anyone else out on the water – the best fishing spots are yours for the taking!
We’ll look after everything for you so you can enjoy a magical day out on the water catching fish for your supper. We supply all fishing gear – tackle, rods and bait – as well as our experienced and local skipper to help you find those fish. The species we most commonly land are blue cod, snapper, terakihi, kingfish, butterfish, hapuku, skate, and perch (although at certain times blue cod is catch and release only) or if the timing’s right, we can also try for shellfish. The tea and coffee’s on us and you can either bring your own lunch or we’ll take you to one of the fantastic Queen Charlotte resorts for a bite to eat if you’re on one of our longer charters.
Sounds Connection offers three, five or eight hour fishing charters from Picton, or we can collect you from your accommodation or family bach in the Queen Charlotte Sound. Our fishing trips are suitable for all ages and skill levels and the trusty MV Tory can take from one to ten passengers, so come on your own or bring your friends, family or colleagues along for a wonderful morning, afternoon or full day in the stunning Queen Charlotte.
